Position Overview

Our Architecture & Urbanism Division integrates the expertise of our multidisciplinary teams to provide a wide array of solutions centered on human-centric design, sustainability, and advanced technology.

IBI Group is in search of a skilled Computational Urban Designer to join our data-centric design team, focusing on large-scale urban projects. This position presents an exciting opportunity to engage in a variety of initiatives, including neighborhood planning, transit-oriented development, streetscape enhancements, and residential projects for both public and private sector clients. The ideal candidate will have robust data analysis skills and the capability to develop computational models throughout all stages of urban design and planning.

Key Responsibilities:

Formulate and execute computational design strategies for urban planning initiatives, encompassing modeling, documentation, visualization, and data analysis. Conduct research and provide context for planning projects, including zoning regulations, local legislation, housing policies, and community initiatives. Collect, clean, and organize data for project applications. Collaborate directly with clients to comprehend their objectives and define project specifications. Lead segments of projects under the guidance of computational design leadership. Integrate planning principles into computational models. Enhance parametric and GIS capabilities within the computational design practice. Contribute to the expansion of the Computational Design team's influence within the broader planning division.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning/Design, Civil Engineering, Geography, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or a related discipline. Experience in master planning, affordable housing, urban design, or transit planning. Proficient in Rhino, Grasshopper, and GIS, with a willingness to quickly learn new tools and processes. Self-motivated individual with excellent organizational skills and a keen eye for detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Capacity to deliver high-quality work within demanding project timelines. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with programming languages, particularly Python and C#, is advantageous. Knowledge of machine learning applications in urban planning and design is a plus. Understanding of contemporary planning and design issues across various disciplines is beneficial.
