Senior Terrestrial Biologist / Team Leader - Morrison Hershfield, now Stantec

Morrison Hershfield, now part of Stantec, is seeking a Senior Terrestrial Biologist / Team Leader to spearhead initiatives within the Ecology East Division. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in Ecological Land Classification, vegetation assessments, wetland evaluation and delineation, wildlife surveys, and arboricultural evaluations. In this capacity, you will be tasked with delivering technical guidance on projects, overseeing multi-disciplinary teams, mentoring junior staff, and facilitating project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer specialized knowledge in Ecological Land Classification, vegetation assessments, wetland delineation, and wildlife surveys.
  • Supervise data analysis and interpretation for environmental documentation.
  • Lead project management efforts and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Organize workload distribution and project responsibilities.
  • Provide mentorship and support to team members.
  • Contribute to business development and manage client relationships.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in environmental biology or a related discipline.
  • At least 6 years of experience in ecological or natural science projects.
  • Previous experience in consulting and project management is preferred.
  • ISA Arborist Certification is advantageous.
  • MNRF certification in Ecological Land Classification and Ontario Wetland Evaluation System is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools.
