Hydrogeologist or Hydrogeological Engineer

At Montrose Environmental Group, we are seeking a highly skilled Hydrogeologist or Hydrogeological Engineer to join our Western Groundwater team in Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta.

About the Role

We are looking for a professional with a strong background in hydrogeology and a passion for delivering innovative solutions to complex environmental challenges. As a Hydrogeologist or Hydrogeological Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a broad range of exciting projects, including regional and local hydrogeologic assessments, contaminated site assessments, regulatory groundwater monitoring programs, and conceptual site model development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Active participation in maintaining Matrix's strong safety culture
  • Provide technical and project management support for hydrogeology projects
  • Leading design and execution of drilling and monitoring programs
  • Support engineering needs for groundwater treatment and dewatering
  • Lead field programs consisting of collecting soil and groundwater samples, installing monitoring wells, conducting pumping tests and installing, setting up and collecting data sets from groundwater monitoring equipment
  • Prepare technical reports including analyzing, interpreting results and reporting project data
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders
Requirements
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in geology, hydrogeology, environmental engineering, or a related field
  • Professional Geoscientist/Engineer, or eligibility to register as a Professional Geoscientist/Engineer with APEGA
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role within a consulting environment
  • Practical experience in physical and contaminant hydrogeology
  • Working knowledge of industry-standard software packages
  • Excellent problem-solving ability and effective project management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a collaborative attitude
  • Experience writing technical reports
  • Valid class 5 driver's license with no restrictions and a clean driving record
