Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Assistant is tasked with various supportive responsibilities, primarily focused on clerical and reception duties that enhance client service within the Pharmacy Department.

Experience

  • Prior experience in clerical and/or administrative roles is preferred.

Education Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification.
  • Familiarity with Medical Terminology is advantageous.

Certification and Licensure

No specific certification is required for this position.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Word and Excel is beneficial.
  • Experience with office equipment, including photocopiers, fax machines, and multi-line telephone systems.
  • Attention to detail and precision in tasks, adhering to established pharmacy standards, including clear handwriting and accuracy in numerical calculations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with the public and colleagues as part of a team.
  • Exhibits a courteous, helpful, and professional demeanor when interacting with patients, families, and staff.
  • Maintains composure and confidence in challenging or emergency situations.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills with Pharmacists, Physicians, Administrative personnel, Nursing staff, and the general public.
  • Upholds confidentiality regarding all sensitive information related to the role.
  • Represents the Churchill Health Centre with professionalism and positivity.
  • Exhibits sound judgment in determining which issues should be escalated to the Pharmacist or other healthcare professionals in a timely manner.
