Community Volunteer Coordinator – CIBC Run for the Cure Committee

The CIBC Run for the Cure, organized by the Canadian Cancer Society, is a prominent 5k or 1k walk or run event, recognized as the largest single-day, volunteer-driven initiative in Canada dedicated to supporting breast cancer awareness and research.

COMMITTEE MEMBER OVERVIEW

If you are enthusiastic about the breast cancer cause, well-connected within your community, and possess a flair for event organization, this volunteer position may be ideal for you. The perfect candidate will exhibit a positive demeanor, strong communication and interpersonal abilities, along with a robust sense of self-motivation and effective time management skills.

Experience or knowledge in any of the following areas will be considered advantageous:

As the Community Volunteer Coordinator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with all committee leaders to ascertain volunteer needs for the event day.
  • Assisting the Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator in identifying potential strategies for attracting event day volunteers.
  • Promoting volunteer opportunities actively within your community alongside the Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator.
  • Engaging with potential volunteers and organizing their schedules accordingly.
  • Supervising all event day volunteers during the event.

TIME COMMITMENT

  • This role requires a commitment of approximately 6 months.
  • Participation in local committee meetings (bi-weekly to monthly).
  • Independent responsibilities (around 2-4 hours per month).
  • Availability during the event weekend is essential.
