We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to join our team.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing occupational health and safety programs and policies to maintain the WorkSafe BC Certificate of Recognition (COR).
This is a hands-on role for an experienced professional with a passion for occupational health and safety, and interest and/or experience in Human Resources and/or Labour Relations.
The ideal candidate will have an Occupational Health and Safety Diploma (and/or a related degree) as well as the Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation, supplemented by a minimum of five years of relevant work experience.
The successful candidate will have direct experience in the planning, development, and implementation of health and safety programs within a public sector setting.
A personal vehicle and a valid BC Driver's License are required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement occupational health and safety programs and policies
- Conduct workplace risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies
- Provide training and education to employees on health and safety procedures
- Investigate workplace incidents and develop corrective actions
- Collaborate with management and employees to promote a culture of health and safety
