Library Technician

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Library Technician. As a key member of our library staff, you will be responsible for developing, organizing, and maintaining a collection of diverse library materials, providing resource information to students, teachers, and parents, and delivering library services such as cataloging, shelving, and circulation.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and maintain a collection of diverse library materials
- Provide resource information to students, teachers, and parents
- Deliver library services such as cataloging, shelving, and circulation
- Support teachers' instructional programs
- Participate in Board-initiated professional development and organizational meetings
- Library Technician Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution or equivalent
- Three months experience with the Dewey Decimal Classification System, and cataloguing procedures according to AACR2 and SEARS Subject Headings, MARC records, standard library cataloging basics
- Computer and audio-visual equipment knowledge and experience
- Good interpersonal and artistic skills to promote library
- Knowledge of the current automation system
- Ability to work under minimal supervision, to organize time efficiently, and to work well with a variety of people
Must be able to travel to all locations within the Niagara Catholic District School Board jurisdiction.
Working Hours:Varies as needed on a casual on-call basis. Must be available Monday to Friday for Elementary and Secondary School hours.
