Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Library Technician. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, organizing, and maintaining a collection of diverse library materials, as well as providing library services to students, teachers, and parents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a collection of diverse library materials, including books, periodicals, and other resources.
  • Locate and provide resource information to students, teachers, and parents.
  • Deliver library services, including cataloging, classification, and circulation of materials.
  • Support teachers' instructional programs by providing library resources and services.
  • Participate in Board-initiated professional development and organizational meetings.
Requirements
  • Library Technician Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution or equivalent.
  • Three months experience with the Dewey Decimal Classification System, and cataloguing procedures according to AACR2 and SEARS Subject Headings, MARC records, standard library cataloging basics.
  • Computer and audio-visual equipment knowledge and experience.
  • Good interpersonal and artistic skills to promote library services.
  • Knowledge of the current automation system.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, to organize time efficiently, and to work well with a variety of people.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate must be able to travel to all locations within the Niagara Catholic District School Board jurisdiction. Hours of work will vary as needed on a casual on-call basis, and the candidate must be available Monday to Friday for Elementary and Secondary School hours.

Compensation

The rate of pay for this position is $21.08 per hour.
