Position Overview

As a Mechanical Operations Supervisor, you will be integral to the success of Kiewit. In this role, you will act as a field leader, overseeing multiple Foremen and laborers/craft workers. Your responsibilities will include organizing work methods, scheduling, managing costs, ensuring compliance with drawings and specifications, maintaining high workmanship standards, and assigning tasks to ensure efficient project execution, either directly or through General Foremen or Foremen. Additionally, you will strive to foster positive relationships with clients, architects/engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and jobsite personnel.

District Overview

Kiewit is a comprehensive, heavy industrial contractor serving the industrial sector across Canada. We typically self-perform all major disciplines, including civil, structural steel erection, heavy mechanical equipment installation, process piping, and electrical/instrumentation controls. Our business operates through various commercial contract styles, including full turnkey, EPC, design-build, T&M, and conventional discipline packages. Responsibilities

  • Daily planning and coordination of Foreman and crew activities.
  • Assisting in the organization and planning of projects within a specific construction area.
  • Overseeing all operations related to a particular discipline or segment of work.
  • Directing craft supervisors on-site.
  • Conducting daily inspections of work performed.
  • Providing job safety training and awareness for personnel.
  • Establishing budgetary guidelines for projects and ensuring adherence to cost control measures.
  • Setting quality standards for all jobs and ensuring compliance with quality assurance and company standards.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of construction experience, with at least 3 years in a Mechanical Superintendent or leadership role (preferably in the oil & gas sector).
  • Ability to oversee multiple disciplines, including steel, piping, and mechanical.
  • Self-starter with high motivation and the capability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Quick learner with the ability to understand Kiewit's policies, procedures, and software programs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration.
