Role Overview
This position is designed to provide both in-house and on-site technical support for a range of pilot-scale water treatment technologies.
In-house responsibilities will encompass assisting during the Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of pilot equipment before it is dispatched to client locations, as well as managing returns from these sites. On-site duties will occur at client locations throughout North America, involving tasks such as commissioning, decommissioning, routine maintenance, emergency troubleshooting, and daily operations of pilot-scale water treatment systems.
The ideal candidate will possess mechanical skills, including the ability to work with and learn various types of pumps, PVC piping, and instrumentation equipment. Electrical skills are also essential, with a focus on working with motors, PLCs, and control panels.
This role will collaborate closely with Pilot Project Managers and the Pilot Equipment Supervisor, ensuring the quality of service provided on pilot equipment. Reporting will be to the Global Pilot Engineering Leader.
Travel within Canada and the United States will be required, with trips lasting between 5 to 21 days.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, test, and maintain mechanical and electrical systems, including pumps, valves, chemical dosing systems, and online monitoring devices (pH, ORP, conductivity, turbidity), SCADA, and PLCs.
- Collect and analyze water samples.
- Maintain daily communication with the project manager to report any issues, concerns, or irregularities.
- Educate client operators on the functionality of pilot equipment.
- Conduct all activities safely, adhering to both client and Veolia's safety standards.
- Keep a tidy, organized, and professional work environment.
Qualifications
Education
- A degree in Engineering or a related field, or a college diploma with a preference for water treatment experience.
Experience/Requirements
- Hands-on experience with mechanical and/or electrical systems, particularly in water treatment.
- Proficiency in standard office software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook).
- Fluent in English (both written and verbal); proficiency in French is an asset.
- Willingness to travel within Canada and the USA; international travel is a plus.
- Capability to perform light manual tasks on-site, including lifting and using hand and power tools.
- Commitment to a 12-16 month contract.
