Indigenous Student Support Assistant

Position Overview
Foothills School Division is actively looking for temporary Educational Assistants to provide essential support for Indigenous learners across various educational institutions. These roles are available in both full-time and part-time capacities, aimed at fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate effectively with team members to assist Indigenous students in achieving academic success, while also addressing their social-emotional and behavioral needs.
- Implement recommendations from Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists as required.
- Adapt to the diverse needs of students within a flexible educational setting.
- Promote cultural appreciation and understanding within a nurturing and supportive school atmosphere.
- Develop educational materials under the guidance of teaching staff to enhance the learning experience of designated students.
- Maintain open lines of communication with classroom educators regarding the progress of identified students.
- Assist in gathering data to support grant initiatives.
Potential School Assignments:
Assignments may include various schools within the division, providing opportunities to engage with a wide range of students.
Experience working with Indigenous students facing complex challenges is highly valued. Candidates who are passionate about supporting all children, possess strong interpersonal skills, and can manage multiple tasks in a dynamic educational environment are encouraged to consider this opportunity. Preferred qualifications include a Teacher Assistant Certificate.
