Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Procon Mining and Tunnelling Ltd. is a leading mine development contractor in North America, specializing in underground mine development, contract mining, and civil tunneling. We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our mining equipment. This is a 2-week on/2-week off rotation opportunity based at our project in Yellowknife.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, including Sandvik drills, CAT trucks, and scoops.
  • Inspect equipment for proper performance and identify defects or malfunctions.
  • Conduct diagnostic testing to determine the cause of problems and implement solutions.
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure proper performance.
  • Clean and lubricate equipment as required.
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
  • Valid provincial or interprovincial journeyperson heavy duty equipment mechanic certificate (Red Seal preferred).
  • Provincially regulated Common Core.
  • Previous underground mining experience is required.
  • Welding experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
  • Dependable and able to commit to a 2-week on/2-week off rotation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Residency in the Northwest Territories.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities.
