Job Summary

The Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department is responsible for delivering a wide range of recreation and cultural programs and services to the community. As an Aquafitness Instructor, you will play a key role in teaching specialized aquafitness programming to participants in a safe and enjoyable manner.

Responsibilities
  • Teach specialized aquafitness programming to participants in a safe and enjoyable manner
  • Follow the guidelines of the certifying agency and corporate and departmental policies, procedures, guidelines and standards
  • Ensure that participants have a positive experience and are able to achieve their fitness goals
  • Develop and implement new aquafitness programs and services to meet the needs of the community
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 11 and current
  • Certifications from a recognized certifying organization (or equivalent as deemed acceptable by management)
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience or equivalent apprenticeship
Preferred Qualifications
  • Aquafitness Instructor Specialty certification (CALA, YM-YWCA, WaterART or other recognized certification)
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates
  • AODA Accessibility/IASR Training
  • Current National Lifeguard Pool certificate is an asset
  • Current Oxygen Therapy or LSS Airway Management certificate is an asset
