Our office is currently in search of a Staff Accountant who will report directly to the firm's partners. This position is suited for individuals who exhibit strong personal and professional accountability, possess a commitment to excellence, and are motivated to achieve their highest potential.

Work Environment:
This role is a hybrid position, requiring some in-office presence for essential meetings.

Compensation:
Salary range: $45,000 - $60,000, with flexibility based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of compilation engagements
  • Preparation of corporate and personal income tax returns
  • Assisting clients with bookkeeping tasks, including transaction recording, bank reconciliation, HST return preparation, and management reporting
  • Efficient preparation and completion of working papers, financial statements, and corporate tax returns for compilation engagements, adhering to firm and regulatory standards
  • Accurate preparation of tax assignments, ensuring timely resolution of queries and adherence to deadlines
  • Preparation of trust returns (T3)

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • 2-3 years of experience in public accounting or a related finance role
  • Demonstrated expertise in preparing compilation engagements and tax returns
  • Proficient in accounting and tax software
  • Strong understanding of tax and accounting principles
  • Familiarity with tools such as Tax Prep, CaseWare, Sage, and QuickBooks
  • Advanced skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in challenging situations
  • Effective time management and self-motivation to work independently in a high-volume environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to continuously enhance professional skills and adapt to a dynamic work environment
  • Flexibility to work overtime during peak periods, with compensation or time off provided
