Our office is currently seeking a Staff Accountant, who will report directly to the firm's partners.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid work-from-home model

Compensation: $45,000 - $60,000 (flexible based on experience)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing compilation engagements
  • Preparing corporate and personal income tax returns
  • Assisting clients with bookkeeping tasks, including transaction recording, bank account reconciliation, and HST return preparation
  • Participating in the efficient preparation and completion of working papers, financial statements, and corporate tax returns for compilation engagements, adhering to firm and regulatory standards
  • Effectively preparing and completing tax assignments, ensuring all queries are resolved and deadlines are met
  • Preparing trust returns (T3)

Qualifications:

  • A college or university degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in public accounting or a similar finance role
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in preparing compilation engagements and corporate and personal income tax returns
  • Proficient in accounting and tax software
  • Strong understanding of tax and accounting principles
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as Tax Prep, CaseWare, Sage, and QuickBooks
  • Advanced skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Highly analytical with exceptional attention to detail
  • A strong work ethic and a passion for challenges
  • Excellent time-management skills and self-motivation to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Commitment to client service excellence
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A willingness to continuously enhance professional skills and adapt to a dynamic work environment
  • Flexibility to work overtime during peak periods, with compensation or time off provided
