Electrical Engineer in Training

We are seeking students in Electrical Engineering Technician to join our team in British Columbia. This position will be based out of Burnaby and may require travel throughout British Columbia and other provinces for project support.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform electrical analysis and design in both industrial and utility sectors
  • Design and integrate protective relaying systems (SEL, GE, Siemens, Schneider, etc.)
  • Implement industrial/Utility substation automation (SEL RTAC, RTU, HMI, Communications, etc.)
  • Conduct electrical studies, including short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc-flash, load flow, grounding, and harmonic studies
  • Create, modify, review, and approve electrical drawing packages: single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and general arrangements
  • Design and modify electrical distribution systems: MCC's, switchgear, breakers, fuses, switches, transformers, capacitor banks, current transformers, potential transformers, protective relays, and controls
  • Troubleshoot problems and develop practical solutions to correct deficiencies in electrical systems
  • Support field services division for maintenance and commissioning activities on customer sites
  • Conduct onsite engineering inspections and data collection
Qualifications:
  • A four-year Electrical Engineering Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Understanding of industrial/utility protection and relay systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (CEC, IEEE1584)
  • Experience with electrical engineering software such as EasyPower, SKM, and ETAP considered an asset
  • Understanding of microprocessor-based relays and their capabilities considered an asset
  • Valid driver's license and clean abstract required for fieldwork
  • Fluent English language skills

Pay Scale:
  • $35 to $50 depending on experience
  • Overtime after 8 hours, double time after 10 hours
