Electrical Engineer Job Opportunity

Job Responsibilities

As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Directing and coordinating electrical planning and implementation to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and work order requirements
  • Reporting work compliance with relevant codes, standards, and procedures
  • Providing designs for electrical systems, including cable tray layouts, electrical equipment arrangements, lighting layouts, and LV single line diagrams
  • Preparing specifications for the purchase of materials and equipment
  • Operating computer-assisted engineering and design software, such as AutoCAD and MicroStation/PDS
  • Providing expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems
  • Creating technical reports, documentation, calculations, and sketches
  • Developing sustainable work relationships to ensure positive resolutions with all contacts
  • Performing electrical studies as assigned
  • Creating conceptual designs for assigned projects
  • Preparing cost estimates and equipment layouts
  • Overseeing the implementation of designs
  • Providing resource estimates and schedules for projects
  • Making technical decisions
  • Directing and coordinating other electrical aspects of the project team
  • Maintaining records of project resources
  • Participating in department training programs
  • Maintaining up-to-date electrical engineering knowledge and staying current with industry trends and best practices
Business Development Support

You will also support the Business Development Team in:

  • Managing and expanding existing customer relationships
  • Growing and developing a new customer base
  • Supporting Business Development activities, including proposal preparation, attendance at conferences, seminars, and networking events
Qualifications and Technical Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 5 to 8 years of work experience from graduation level, with possible PMP designation or relevant work experience
  • Professional Engineer's designation in BC or another Canadian Province
  • Demonstrated design of distribution-related electrical systems, which is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated design of Building Systems, including fire alarm, data/voice, security, door access controls, and lighting controls
  • Demonstrated design of Hospitals, including nurse call, normal, vital, and delayed vital power systems, fire alarm, data/voice, security, door access controls, and lighting controls
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering theories and principles
  • Demonstrated use of ETAP, a power system analysis software
  • Demonstrated use of AGI32, a lighting analysis software
  • Beginner to Intermediate skills with drafting tools, such as AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or MicroStation
  • Able to conduct detailed calculations to ensure that designs meet engineered standards and applicable codes
  • Experience with multiple phases of projects, including preliminary and detailed design, tendering, construction supervision, and commissioning
  • Valid Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator's License to facilitate independent travel to project sites and other office locations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
