Job Summary:

Venor is seeking a seasoned structural engineer to lead and manage our buildings program. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the conceptual and detailed design of infrastructure projects, including commercial buildings, industrial facilities, institutional buildings, wharfs, and bridges.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Leadership and Expertise: Provide technical oversight and mentorship to engineers, EITs, and designers, ensuring high-quality design and execution. Lead the development and implementation of technical solutions for complex and challenging projects.
  2. Project Management: Oversee all aspects of project design, from initial concept through to detailed execution. Review and approve technical project documentation, ensuring the structural integrity of materials and designs.
  3. Client and Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary liaison with clients, stakeholders, and sub-consultants, ensuring clear communication and coordination. Collaborate with architects, engineers, designers, contractors, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and provide technical recommendations.
  4. Technical Proficiency: Interpret geotechnical reports and topographical studies to perform various types of foundation design. Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation for clients. Conduct feasibility assessments and site inspections.
Requirements:
  1. Professional Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited university. Current registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Nova Scotia or ability to obtain registration.
  2. Experience and Knowledge: Minimum of 20 years of experience in the design and construction of infrastructure projects, particularly in buildings, bridges, and marine structures. Deep understanding of building codes, standards, and regulations relevant to structural design and construction.
  3. Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients. Demonstrated self-starter with superior verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a high level of accuracy in calculations and design.
  5. Flexibility: Willingness to travel to various locations across Canada, up to a maximum of 5 days per 60-90 days.
