The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Treasury Analyst to become an integral member of our Finance Division. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for executing treasury strategies and offering insights on financial risk management, long-term financial forecasting, and treasury operations.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Assistant Treasurer, you will provide value through your oversight in the following areas:
- Leading and assisting management in the creation, upkeep, and execution of precise financial forecasting models, including daily cash flow, fuel deferral account balances, and carbon credit generation.
- Delivering in-depth analysis, options, implications, and recommendations to Treasury management to aid in strategic and operational decision-making.
- Conducting daily treasury operations to ensure liquidity needs and debt repayment obligations are fulfilled.
- Investigating and identifying alternatives while providing recommendations regarding financial transactions (derivatives, investments, debt, alternative revenue sources) to mitigate financial risks and enhance financial performance.
- Ensuring all transactions and Treasury activities comply with internal policies, contractual obligations, and financial agreements.
- Supporting the development and implementation of Treasury policies and parameters, ensuring they remain current while providing advice and recommendations for necessary adjustments.
- Mentoring and developing Treasury Analysts and staff designated as backups for the Senior Treasury Analyst role.
Qualifications
You hold an undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Economics, or a related discipline. A CFA, CTP-AFP, or CPA designation is highly regarded. Additionally, you bring 4-6 years of experience in treasury, finance, or a related field.
The ideal candidate is a strategic problem-solver with a solid understanding of treasury functions, banking operations, cash management, capital markets products, qualitative analysis, and data science.
You possess outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills, along with excellent oral and written communication, report-writing, and presentation abilities. Proficiency in computer applications, particularly spreadsheet software and data visualization, is essential. Experience with Bloomberg Financial software, Cognos Planning Analyst software, and financial analysis in a large corporate environment is a valuable asset.
