The Director of Finance and Procurement plays a pivotal role in overseeing financial operations and procurement processes. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing accounting and financial administration, including payroll.
  • Establishing and supervising the budget process for the organization.
  • Reporting financial outcomes and ensuring adherence to procurement policies and procedures.
  • Overseeing compliance with local, provincial, and federal reporting requirements, including all filings with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
  • Conducting regular bank reconciliations, preparing monthly financial statements, and performing detailed variance analyses.
  • Presenting financial reports to the Board and relevant government departments.
  • Building and leading a competent finance team through effective hiring, training, and coaching.
  • Collaborating with the CEO and Division Directors to identify potential business risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensuring accuracy and completeness in procurement reporting to the Board and other stakeholders.
  • Maintaining thorough documentation in line with public sector accounting standards.

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in accounting and finance.
  • Familiarity with Public Sector Accounting Standards.
  • Experience in a government organization is considered an asset.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as SAP, Oracle, SAGE, or Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs.
