Job Summary

Okanagan College is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Dishwasher to join our Culinary and Pastry Arts team. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitization in our dishroom and kitchen areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all dishes, glassware, and cooking utensils are cleaned to food safety standards.
  • Sort, rinse, and wash dirty dishes, glassware, tableware, pots, pans, trays, and other cooking utensils using machine and manual cleaning methods as required.
  • Perform general dish room duties, including restocking clean utensils and tableware, maintaining the cleanliness of the dishwashing area, and washing and folding kitchen laundry.
  • Bus dishes from program kitchens and ensure classrooms are set with clean cooking utensils and other supplies as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all provincial workplace safety standards.

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent and Food Safe Certificate.
  • Up to and including 6 months related experience an asset.
  • Experience working in a commercial kitchen an asset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Highly productive and able to multi-task.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships with staff, students, and public.
  • Confident working with minimal supervision.
  • Able to lift/move objects up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift/move objects up to 25 and including 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

This is an on-call position, and the schedule may vary, but will not exceed 35 hours per week. The annual salary/hourly rate is $22.86 - $26.05.
