About the Role:

The Marine Systems Technician will ensure the safe and efficient operation and upkeep of all mechanical systems, including engines, generators, and related compartments. This role also involves overseeing general vessel maintenance and assisting with passenger operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver outstanding service to guests and colleagues in line with our service philosophy.
  • Adhere to safety protocols to safeguard passengers and the vessel.
  • Assist in mooring operations as needed.
  • Maintain engines, generators, and all compartments, ensuring cleanliness and functionality.
  • Conduct regular inspections of machinery and facilities to confirm operational standards.
  • Manage machinery and plumbing replacements as necessary.
  • Oversee the addition of fresh water and waste management during service.
  • Monitor battery levels and fluid conditions regularly.
  • Ensure a clean and safe engine room environment, addressing any spills or leaks promptly.
  • Document observations in the Engineer Logbook and communicate any anomalies to the Master.
  • Guarantee the reliable operation of all systems and equipment under your supervision, adhering to safety management protocols.
  • Inspect all areas of the vessel for safety compliance and assist in incident investigations.
  • Participate in emergency drills and navigational training as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness of decks and exterior areas.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of materials and waste management.
  • Ensure restrooms are serviced and stocked appropriately.
  • Be punctual and ready to work at scheduled times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with company standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Relevant educational background or equivalent experience.
  • Marine Emergency Duties training certificate (training provided).
  • Preferred: Transport Canada Small Vessel Machinery Operator Certificate or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid passport for international travel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members.
  • Strong service orientation with a willingness to assist others.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic demeanor is essential.
  • Willingness to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions for extended periods.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Availability to work on major holidays.
