We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented AI and Emerging Technology Researcher to become a key member of the AI and Emerging Technology team at Canadian Tire Corporation. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring our organization remains at the forefront of technological advancements and competitive dynamics within the retail industry. The successful candidate will engage in the exploration of cutting-edge technologies, assess their potential implications for our business, and deliver insights that inform strategic investments and decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive investigations into emerging technologies that could potentially transform the retail landscape. Develop and maintain a diverse array of information sources across both industry and academic spheres to stay informed about the latest advancements in critical technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, quantum computing, and robotics. Facilitate the establishment of strategic collaborations with academic institutions, industry leaders, technology providers, and startups to access pioneering research and innovations. Monitor competitor initiatives and evaluate their technology adoption and innovation strategies. Assess the prospective business impact and value of new technologies, determining the optimal timing for adoption in alignment with the organization's strategic objectives. Prepare comprehensive reports, whitepapers, and presentations to support investment and strategic decisions. Distill complex research findings into clear, concise, and actionable insights for various stakeholder groups, including executives, managers, and technical teams. Engage in the development of emerging technology roadmaps and investment strategies, collaborating with business stakeholders to align innovation investments with organizational goals. Offer practical recommendations for integrating emerging technologies into existing business frameworks or for the creation of new revenue opportunities.Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) field is preferred, or equivalent experience. Advanced degrees or certifications in AI, machine learning, or emerging technologies are highly desirable. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in professional, technology-focused research and innovation. Exceptional analytical skills with the capability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights and recommendations. Strong understanding of current technological trends and developments. Experience with technology evaluation frameworks and methodologies. Familiarity with experimental design, data analysis, and statistical techniques. Excellent communication and storytelling abilities, both verbal and written, to effectively convey research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams. Strong time management skills to manage multiple research projects concurrently. A genuine curiosity and passion for continuous learning and staying updated with technological advancements. Proven track record of research excellence, including article publications and conference presentations, is an asset.Work Environment
