Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and document residents' physical and psychological conditions, ensuring accurate updates on care and nursing procedures.
  • Assist residents with personal care needs, fostering their dignity and comfort.
  • Support emergency staffing requirements as necessary.
  • Adhere to Infection Control Practices and educate others on outbreak management and basic infection control measures.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing program or an equivalent combination of education and experience recognized by the regulatory body.
  • Active registration with the relevant nursing regulatory authority.
  • Current Occupational First Aid Level 1 certification.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations.
  • Successful completion of a criminal record check.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both spoken and written.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in gerontology is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with MDS education (such as Gold Care or Point Click Care) is a plus.

Assessment Duties:

  • Evaluate residents' health status, identifying normal versus abnormal physical findings.
  • Recognize deviations from mental health baselines, differentiating between conditions such as dementia and delirium.
  • Assess and monitor residents' strengths and limitations, addressing their physiological, psychological, socio-cultural, and spiritual needs.
  • Take appropriate actions, including consulting with healthcare providers or referring to mental health teams as needed.
