About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Church Maintenance Worker at Guru Nanak Niwas Society. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of our premises.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Sweep, mop, scrub, and wax hallways, floors, and stairs to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Waste Management: Empty trash cans and other waste containers, and operate industrial vacuum cleaners to remove scraps, dirt, and debris.
  • Groundskeeping: Water and tend to plants, lawns, and/or gardens to maintain a well-manicured appearance.
  • Facilities Support: Perform safety and security checks, and contact contractors for repairs and maintenance of the establishment.
  • Special Tasks: Clean and disinfect bathrooms and fixtures, and clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Support for Newcomers and Refugees: Recruit newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster, and provide diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment.
  • Support for Mature Workers: Apply hiring policies that discourage age discrimination, and promote a workplace that values diversity and inclusion.
