Position Overview:

The Cryptography Planning team is tasked with the development of the Cryptography Framework and Guiding Principles for TD Bank, aimed at ensuring comprehensive cryptographic data protection across various environments including on-premises, mobile, and cloud platforms. Our responsibilities encompass vendor research, solution proposals, evaluations, system blueprint development, and documentation creation for the implementation and automation of Data Protection technologies. Additionally, we may need to re-engineer existing technologies within the Information and Data Security domain.

Collaboration with the Crypto Lab team is essential for conducting Proof-of-Concept evaluations of products and preparing solution blueprint documentation for the Crypto Engineering team to facilitate build and testing processes.

Ideal Candidate Profile: The successful candidate will have expertise in identifying cryptographic and data security vulnerabilities at an enterprise level, conducting impact and stakeholder analyses, and recommending appropriate remediation strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement cryptographic protection for Data at Rest and Data in Transit.
  • Establish Cryptography Governance through Policies, Procedures, Standards, and Guides.
  • Oversee Database Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and encryption during data transit.
  • Safeguard data in Public Cloud environments (e.g., Azure, Google).
  • Utilize Thales Vormetric/CipherTrust for Data At Rest Encryption.
  • Manage Hardware Security Modules (HSM) from providers such as Thales, Entrust, Utimaco, and Atalla.
  • Employ Cryptographic Tools (e.g., Venafi).
  • Oversee PKI (x509 Digital Certificates, SSH, Microsoft ADCS, TLS ciphers).
  • Manage Key Lifecycle for both symmetric and asymmetric keys.
  • Explore Post-Quantum Cryptography advancements.
Technical Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should possess extensive technical knowledge across a variety of Information and Data Security technologies, frameworks, tools, processes, and procedures. We seek individuals with experience in the following areas:

  • Minimum of 3 years in the Cryptography domain.
  • Familiarity with technologies and security controls for safeguarding data at rest and in transit.
  • Comprehensive understanding of PCI DSS requirements for data protection.
  • Ability to navigate NIST 800-Series Special Publications regarding cryptography and FIPS 140-3 certification levels.
  • In-depth knowledge of various cryptographic and encryption technologies and standards.
  • Understanding of Post-Quantum Cryptography principles and standardization.
  • Capability to communicate complex technical concepts to Senior Leadership and non-technical business partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office for developing presentations, design documentation, and reports.
  • Expertise in either Windows/Unix/Linux Databases or Storage solutions.
  • Experience with Cryptography in Cloud Solutions within Highly Virtualized Environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possession of an industry-recognized IS Security certification (e.g., CISSP) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Mainframe cryptography and HSM is advantageous.
  • Experience in data protection against Ransomware is a plus.
  • Prior employment in the Financial industry is beneficial.
Job Requirements:

This role is pivotal for the Crypto Organization, focusing on the analysis, proposal, and conceptual design of solutions and automation for security infrastructure and tools. Responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to the development of solution structures and frameworks for cryptographic data protection.
  • Evaluating and selecting security tools and solutions that align with security needs.
  • Documenting design patterns for adoption by engineering teams.
  • Leading the development of solution documentation, System Requirements, and Cryptography Policies.
  • Producing technical documentation, reports, and summaries.
  • Creating and delivering presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Understanding the Regulatory and Compliance landscape in the Financial Industry.
  • Exhibiting strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Building effective working relationships with personnel at all levels.
  • Managing multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adapting to changing requirements and reflecting on lessons learned.
  • Collaborating closely with Internal Engineering, Deployment, and Operations teams.
  • Demonstrating attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Making informed engineering design decisions related to cryptographic principles.
  • Aligning with departmental strategies to achieve superior results.
  • Providing subject matter expertise to business partners.
  • Coordinating activities with third-party solution and service providers.
