Job Summary

The City of Ottawa's Facility Operations department is seeking a skilled Ice Resurfacer Operator to join our team. As an Ice Resurfacer Operator, you will be responsible for operating ice resurfacing equipment on a part-time basis and performing general housekeeping activities and minor building maintenance tasks as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate ice resurfacing equipment to maintain ice surfaces in City facilities
  • Perform general housekeeping activities, including cleaning and sanitizing facilities
  • Conduct minor building maintenance tasks, such as repairs and replacements
  • Work collaboratively with other Facility Operations staff to ensure smooth operation of facilities

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 10
  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience in building/cleaning maintenance, including experience in operating ice resurfacer and ice edger
  • Valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates
  • Safe Ice Resurfacer Operator (Zamboni) certificate within the timeframe determined by the employer
  • Must complete all required on-the-job training/certifications (e.g. WHMIS, fall arrest, confined space entry, etc.) within the timeframe determined by the employer

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Ice Technician (CIT) from ORFA or equivalent
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
  • Completion of City of Ottawa Facility Cleaning and Sanitization training
