Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Mental Health Professional to join our North East Mental Health Team in Vancouver, BC.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients with severe and persistent mental illness, concurrent disorders, and/or dementia.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized direct nursing care and brokerage services to clients.
- Assess and develop client-centred rehabilitation programs.
- Enhance quality of life from the client's perspective.
- Consult and collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to develop treatment plans.
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships based on respect.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor client response.
- Prepare and maintain client records according to established standards.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
- Diploma in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing, plus two years' recent related experience working with individuals with severe and persistent psychiatric illness.
- Valid BC Driver's License.
- Knowledge of client and family-centered recovery models in mental illness.
- Knowledge of concurrent disorders and Psychosocial Rehabilitation methodology.
- Ability to identify emotional, social, or environmental barriers and intervene to eliminate stigma.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
