Job Title: Valve Technician

Job Summary:

The Valve Technician is a key member of our team at King's Energy Services Ltd, responsible for the service and repair of pressure relief device valves. This role involves adhering to quality and safety processes and procedures, as well as servicing valves and general shop/equipment maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reporting: The Valve Technician will report directly to the PSV Team Lead or Branch Manager, depending on the branch location.
  • Disassembling and Cleaning: The technician will disassemble valves using various tools and clean them for inspection, using solvents and tools as needed.
  • Inspection and Documentation: The technician will inspect internal parts, measuring and documenting critical dimensions.
  • Computer Tracking: The technician will enter information for valves into a computer tracking system.
  • Assembly and Testing: The technician will assemble valves in accordance with OEM specs, using various tools, and test them to code and specifications.
  • Painting and Tagging: The technician will paint and tag valves to like-new condition and seal them in accordance with code.
  • Travel and On-Call: The technician may be required to travel to other branch locations or work on the mobile onsite unit, and will be part of an on-call rotation.
  • Quality Control: The technician will ensure all paperwork and tags are correct and verify against paperwork and computer system information.
Requirements:
  • Mechanical Aptitude: The successful candidate will have a mechanical aptitude and a commitment to safety and quality.
  • Team Environment: The candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Computer and Math Skills: The candidate will possess basic computer and math skills.
  • Attention to Detail: The candidate will have exceptional accuracy with attention to detail.
  • Integrity and Professionalism: The candidate will have integrity, professionalism, positivity, and passion.
  • Technical Comprehension: The candidate will have strong comprehension and memory when reading, understanding, and following technical specifications for the assembly, tear-down, and repair of equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of Safety Relief Valve servicing experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of repair and testing of Safety Relief Valves is required.
  • Education: A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Driver's License: A valid Driver's License with a clean driver's abstract is required.
  • Certifications: Any of the following certifications are an asset: Forklift, Overhead Crane, First Aid, H2S Alive, CSO current safety certificates.
  • Lifting Ability: The candidate will be able to lift lbs.
Working Conditions:
  • Shop and Field Environments: The technician will work in shop and field environments, with potential to travel to other branches or work on the onsite mobile unit.
  • Availability: The technician must be available during busy turnaround schedules.
  • Physical Demands: The technician will work in a very hands-on role, standing for long periods and frequent kneeling, lifting, bending daily.
  • Exposure to Hazards: The technician will be exposed to sudden loud noises, harsh cleaning chemicals, etc.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Steel-toed boots are required.
  • Work Schedule: The technician will work 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with overtime and weekends as required.
  • On-Call Rotation: The technician will be part of an on-call rotation schedule.
  • Annual Holiday Shutdowns: The technician will work during annual holiday shop shutdowns.
  • Pre-Employment Drug Test: The technician will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test, as this is a safety-sensitive position.
  • Pre-Access Drug Testing: The technician may be required to undergo pre-access drug testing for fieldwork, as requested throughout the duration of employment.
