The Role:

The Safety Manager is responsible for developing and implementing safety and risk management policies and procedures in compliance with provincial and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement safety procedures and protocols for operations and activities.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and identify potential hazards.
  • Ensure adherence to government statutes, laws, bylaws, and permit restrictions.
  • Develop and deliver safety training, including emergency response drills.
  • Maintain a system for reporting and investigating incidents or near misses.
  • Champion the Joint Health and Safety Committee and maintain OH&S documentation.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in safety regulations.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with employees, management, and external bodies.
  • Ensure team members have mandatory safety training.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures relating to safety.
  • Encourage a culture of safety within the organization.

Requirements:

  • Understanding of safety regulations and standards relevant to adventure activities.
  • Experience in developing and delivering safety training programs.
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff members to prioritize safety.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey safety protocols and procedures.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess risks and develop strategies.
