About the Role

Harris Computer Systems is seeking a highly skilled and experienced COBOL Developer to join our team as a Senior Analyst-Programmer. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for designing, programming, documenting, and implementing software solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Software Development: Perform analysis, coding, unit testing, and integration of new/existing solutions to meet client needs.
  • Technical Expertise: Act as a COBOL technical expert, providing support, making recommendations, and implementing procedures and guidelines for complex computer systems.
  • Documentation: Document programs according to the development processes specific to the business unit.
  • Quality Control: Conduct quality control assessments by developing and establishing test scenarios to ensure that systems and programs developed comply with specifications and contain no errors.
  • Client Support: Provide clients with technical support when they encounter problems, help establish corrective actions, and draw up functional analyses based on client needs.
  • Integration: Ensure that functionalities and modules developed integrate properly into existing systems.
  • Code Review: Perform code review of work done by junior and intermediate programmers.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or combination of relevant experience and training.
  • Experience: More than 11 years of relevant experience as a COBOL Developer in a legacy environment.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of SCO Unix/Linux environments and tools, good knowledge of Windows Environment (Windows Server 2012/2016, Windows 7/8/10), exposure to retail processes and systems (Accounting, POS, Inventory etc), knowledge of AGILE methodology, design models.
Assets
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of Microfocus and Fujitsu COBOL compilers, knowledge of C and SQL, knowledge of Web Services development including java, SOAP and JSON messaging, knowledge of C#.
