Position Summary
The Cook plays a vital role within our culinary team, delivering outstanding service and executing dietary tasks that include food preparation, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen, and reviewing menus to ensure proper food quantities and dietary requirements are met. It is essential that food is prepared in accordance with HACCP guidelines at designated times.
Key Responsibilities
- Uphold high standards of quality in food production and portion management.
- Prepare cold and hot food items, assemble meal trays for distribution, and assist in delivering meals to patient rooms when necessary, along with post-meal cleanup.
- Adhere to all Food Safety and Health and Safety regulations as mandated by the Ministry of Health and Compass Standards.
- Participate in data collection and monthly evaluations for the culinary department, ensuring proper inventory management, including storage, rotation, and labeling.
- Communicate food ordering needs to Food Services Management.
Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to comply with departmental and legislative health and safety standards.
- Strong culinary skills, including proficiency with knives and commercial kitchen equipment (ovens, stoves, tilt skillets, etc.).

Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 12 education.
- At least one year of cooking experience in healthcare settings or banquet services.
- Red Seal Certification from the Ontario Ministry of Training and Universities or an equivalent Culinary Arts diploma, including apprenticeship experience.
- Completion of HACCP training.
