The Registered Nurse (RN) serves as a vital member of the healthcare team, dedicated to delivering exceptional patient-centered nursing care within the Post-Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This role demands adherence to the highest standards of nursing practice as outlined by the regulatory body and organizational policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure safe nursing practices throughout the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Maintain compliance with established policies and procedures related to patient observations.
- Deliver professional, patient-focused care aimed at ensuring safety and promoting both physiological and psychological well-being.
- Foster a compassionate and culturally sensitive environment for diverse patient populations.
- Implement infection control and prevention protocols diligently.
- Respond effectively to emergencies by recognizing changes in patient health status and utilizing appropriate consultation methods.
- Provide comprehensive health education to patients and families, including detailed discharge instructions to facilitate continuity of care.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of two years of experience in a PACU, emergency, or critical care setting within the last five years.
- Proficient in managing patients requiring ventilator support and hemodynamic monitoring.
- Certification in Coronary Care I and II or a critical care course is mandatory.
- Completion of a post-anesthetic care nursing course is preferred.

- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing.
- Strong understanding of nursing processes, theories, and professional responsibilities.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required.
