We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Manager to join our team at NA Freight Forwarding Inc. As a key member of our Finance department, you will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions and related administrative activities.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and oversee day-to-day accounting functions to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
- Post and approve payments through online banking software.
- Assist staff with questions regarding processing of daily transactions.
- Approve payables and collect receivables, escalating issues as necessary.
- Provide direction, coaching, and leadership to accounting staff.
- Maintain staff training standards and conduct regular reviews to ensure policies and procedures are being followed.
- Assist in preparing books for year-end audits.
- Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting transactions, including standard entries, cost allocations, and accruals.
- Regularly review Accounts Payable and Receivable to ensure company policies are being adhered to.
- Analyze income statement accounts for variances and compliance with accounting policies.
- Perform account reconciliations, identify issues and trends, and report to executive management.
- Develop, implement, and monitor company processes and policies, creating and reviewing department SOPs and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with Human Resources, IT, Project Managers, Accounts Payable and Receivable, and other staff and management for training, support, and information exchange.
- Contribute to special projects and other duties as required.
- 10+ years of experience in various accounting roles.
- Post-secondary education in business accounting or finance.
- Advanced knowledge of current financial best practices and regulations.
- 5+ years in a management or leadership role.
- Experience in the transportation, freight forwarding, and logistics industry is an asset.
- Hands-on manager with a high level of dependability, punctuality, and attendance.
- Conscientious and reliable self-starter with a results-oriented approach.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to effectively manage and operate in a team environment.
- Acts and makes decisions in line with what's best for the company.
