Key Responsibilities- Process blood samples and other laboratory specimens with accuracy and efficiency.
- Enter requisitions and results into our system in a timely manner.
- Provide customer service to patients and their families, ensuring a positive and empathetic experience.
- Work collaboratively with our healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care.
- Perform phlebotomy procedures with skill and precision.
- Sort and transport specimens to the laboratory, following established protocols.
- Ensure all confidential information is maintained in a secure fashion.
- Secondary School diploma and completion of a Laboratory Assistant training program or Medical Lab Assistance course with specialized training in phlebotomy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing deadlines.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in data entry and specimen handling.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, at a level that enables clear communication with patients and healthcare professionals.
This role requires working in a medical laboratory environment, with potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens. The successful candidate must be able to lift a maximum of 30 pounds and perform repetitive movements with frequent computer use.
