About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Correctional Officer to join our team at the Government of Nova Scotia. As a Correctional Officer, you will be responsible for the safe and secure custody, control, and supervision of individuals in our correctional facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the safe and secure custody of individuals in our facilities, ensuring their well-being and safety.
  • Supervise and manage the activities of individuals in our care, promoting a positive and rehabilitative environment.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure the effective operation of our facilities and the delivery of programs and services.
  • Conduct regular counts and searches of individuals in our care, ensuring their safety and security.
  • Write reports and maintain accurate records, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A High School diploma and 2 years of related experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong observation, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to respond effectively in crisis situations.
  • A valid Driver's License and a clean Driver's Abstract.
