Position: Director of Care – Permanent, Full-time

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the execution and assessment of nursing department strategies and operations.
  • Direct the coordination and application of best practices and risk management strategies concerning resident care.
  • Manage the effective use of nursing resources and supplies.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive system for care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation at both the resident and unit program levels.
  • Provide mentorship to staff while ensuring the delivery of high-quality resident care.
  • Initiate and manage investigative and corrective measures related to occupational health and safety; collaborate on WSIB claims and return-to-work strategies.
  • Engage in special projects, reviews, and various initiatives to improve care standards.
  • Assume full responsibility for the nursing department's operations.
Qualifications
  • Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse.
  • A genuine passion for caring for seniors and a strong service-oriented mindset.
  • Proven experience in WSIB management and occupational health and safety practices.
  • Familiarity with fall prevention and harm reduction strategies is advantageous.
  • Previous experience in long-term care settings is preferred, along with a thorough understanding of relevant responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong comprehension abilities.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with a focus on holistic care approaches.
