Key Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the President and Vice-Chancellor, the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer will serve as the principal financial and administrative leader of Carleton University. This role entails providing strategic direction, oversight, and stewardship for the university's core support services. The CFO will collaborate closely with the President, senior leadership team, and Board of Governors. Leading a talented team of professionals, the CFO will ensure the efficient management of various units within the portfolio, striving for excellence in: financial services; pension fund oversight; human resources; facilities management and planning; information technology; as well as safety and risk management. The CFO will oversee a full-time staff of over 360 employees and manage operating and ancillary budgets exceeding $100 million.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of senior financial and operational leadership across several domains, including finance, administration, human resources, facilities management, and information technology. The successful candidate will have significant experience in financial planning, ensuring the sustainability and viability of assets, service delivery, and personnel management within a complex public organization. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, along with strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, are essential. The ability to inspire a dedicated team while supporting the university's academic mission is crucial. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in management, strategic planning, and a commitment to team-building, innovation, collaboration, staff development, and community engagement.
