Position Title: Director of Care – Permanent, Full-time

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the execution and assessment of nursing department strategies and operations.
  • Spearhead the coordination and application of best practices and risk management strategies concerning resident care.
  • Efficiently manage the utilization of nursing resources and supplies.
  • Ensure a systematic approach to care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation at both the resident and unit program levels.
  • Actively mentor staff while supervising the delivery of high-quality resident care.
  • Initiate investigative and corrective measures related to occupational health and safety; collaborate on WSIB claims and return-to-work strategies.
  • Engage in special projects, reviews, and various initiatives.
  • Assume full accountability for the nursing department's operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid and current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse.
  • A compassionate nature and a strong commitment to caring for seniors.
  • Proven experience in WSIB management and other aspects of Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Familiarity with falls and harm reduction strategies is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in long-term care settings is beneficial, with a comprehensive understanding of relevant duties.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong comprehension abilities.
  • Developed creative problem-solving skills to consider the broader perspective.
