Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Volunteer Engagement and Life Enrichment Manager to join our team at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. This is a full-time position that will provide visionary leadership, management, and mentorship of volunteer services, life enrichment programs, and spiritual health in a long-term care setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance the lives and wellness of residents through volunteer engagement and life enrichment programs.
  • Collaborate with residents, families, leadership, and the interdisciplinary team to execute on strategic goals that promote a good life.
  • Build and manage a team of volunteers to support life enrichment programs and spiritual health initiatives.
  • Develop and implement therapeutic recreation and spiritual health programming to enhance the lives and wellness of residents.
  • Ensure quality of life experiences are seen, heard, and felt by all who live and work at our facilities.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with established health and safety regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Recreation Management and Community Development or a related field.
  • Recognized Volunteer Management Certificate.
  • Affiliation with Volunteer Management Professionals of Canada required.
  • Formal management preparation is an asset.
  • Knowledge and skills of leisure and spiritual health program development and implementation for older adults.
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in a management and leadership role.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience supporting a Volunteer Services program.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Experience in long-term care, geriatrics, or gerontology and individuals with developmental disabilities is an asset.
  • Experience working with youth, seniors, and newcomers to Canada is an asset.
Abilities and Skills
  • Communicate in both official languages (French and English) or an expressed commitment to learn some French in support of active offer is required.
  • Model leadership behaviours that align with our values, and demonstrate a drive for results towards meeting organizational goals with creativity and an innovative approach.
  • Manage multiple and/or competing priorities using technology, appropriate delegation, negotiation, organizational insight, self-awareness, and self-care, time management, hard work, and leadership competencies.
  • Promote cooperation, collaboration, and partnerships between individuals or groups both inside and outside of the organization, fostering mutual accountability within team settings to achieve group results while ensuring everyone understands each other's roles, responsibilities, and contributions.
  • Develop direct reports and the team by providing challenging and stretching tasks and assignments, being a people and team builder by establishing clear individual and team goals, building spirit and morale, and letting people finish and be responsible for their work.
  • Present and communicate effectively using different communication methods as needed and in a variety of formal or informal settings both inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to function in a computerized environment with programs such as Better Impact, Microsoft Office suite, and virtual communication resources (e.g. Zoom and Teams).
  • Ability to utilize external online platforms, including but not limited to Volunteer Manitoba, Volunteer Match, Volunteer Management Professionals of Canada, Volunteer Canada, Indeed, etc.
  • Familiarity with community resources.
  • Ability to demonstrate a satisfactory employment record, including attendance.
  • Current Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector and Adult Abuse Registry Check deemed satisfactory by the Employer.
