Position: Machine Operator

Compensation: $35.43 per hour for fully qualified operators (starting rates for learners: Learner 1: $30.11/hr; Learner 2: $31.88/hr; Learner 3: $33.65/hr)

Role Summary:

An opportunity exists for a Machine Operator to contribute to our production team. Each team member plays a vital role in ensuring BWXT Canada's success and in meeting our customers' expectations regarding quality, cost, and delivery. Our skilled tradespeople are recognized as the best in the industry, showcasing exceptional technical expertise daily.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate both CNC and manual machine tools.
  • Program CNC machinery effectively.
  • Maintain consistent production of high-quality machine components.
  • Interpret Work Orders, Drawings, Shop Instruction Sheets (SIS), and related documentation.
  • Select appropriate tools and apply knowledge of feeds and speeds.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and demonstrate excellent workmanship.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety.
  • Strong focus on quality and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments.
  • Proficient in reading and writing CNC programming.
  • Ability to perform routine mathematical calculations, including trigonometry and algebra.
  • Completion of an advanced machining or CNC program with verified documentation.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in manual machining or CNC operations.
  • Willingness to work various shifts, including day, afternoon, or weekend shifts.
