Job Overview
As a Lead Packaging Solutions Engineer, you will be an essential part of our Engineering team, focusing on the design, enhancement, and validation of packaging strategies for our diverse automotive product lineup. Your expertise in packaging design, material science, and supply chain optimization will be crucial in driving initiatives that improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impact. You will collaborate with various teams and external partners to develop a robust packaging strategy for Harbinger Motors' advanced vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Packaging Design and Development:
- Direct the conceptualization and development of tailored packaging solutions for Harbinger Motors' chassis and components.
- Employ advanced CAD software and simulation tools to produce detailed packaging designs, factoring in product dimensions, weight distribution, and transportation methods.
- Material Innovation and Sustainability:
- Investigate and select packaging materials that align with our sustainability goals, including recyclable and biodegradable options.
- Testing and Validation:
- Design and implement thorough testing protocols to evaluate the structural integrity and protective capabilities of packaging designs.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements through rigorous testing and analysis.
- Supply Chain Optimization:
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Logistics teams to refine packaging configurations and shipping strategies for enhanced efficiency and cost reduction.
- Apply lean principles to streamline packaging processes and minimize waste across the supply chain.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Procurement teams to integrate packaging considerations into product design and production planning.
- Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders and external partners to align packaging strategies with business objectives.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate documentation of packaging specifications and project milestones throughout the development process.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to convey packaging designs and performance metrics to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in packaging engineering, with a proven history of developing innovative packaging solutions in the automotive or aerospace industries.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) for 3D modeling and packaging design.
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials, including plastics and composites, with an emphasis on sustainable options.
- Familiarity with packaging testing standards and experience in conducting physical and environmental testing.
- Demonstrated expertise in supply chain management and logistics optimization.
- Excellent analytical and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating across various teams.
- Leadership experience, including mentoring junior engineers and driving change initiatives.
