Job Title: Temporary Educational Assistant

We are seeking a Temporary Educational Assistant to support students with exceptional needs in our Elementary and Secondary schools. As a member of our team, you will play a vital role in creating positive, welcoming, and safe learning environments where every child can achieve success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with exceptional needs in a classroom setting
  • Assist with daily living tasks, such as toileting and diapering
  • Participate in Behaviour Management Systems and First Aid and CPR training
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized plans
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure a smooth and supportive learning environment

Requirements:

  • Secondary school diploma and two-year or three-year Community College Diploma in Child & Youth Care, Educational Assistant, Developmental Services Worker, Educational Support Worker, Autism and Behavioural Science, or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of related experience working with school-aged special needs children
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, transferring, and toileting
  • Current Behaviour Management Systems, First Aid, and CPR training
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team setting
  • Understanding and commitment to confidentiality
  • Awareness and appreciation of Catholic Education and the Board's Mission Statement
  • A valid driver's license
