What is the opportunity?

As a vital member of the Global Functions Technology (GFT) within the Technology and Operations division at RBC, you will be instrumental in a team that delivers IT solutions across various sectors, driving efficiency and transformation. Our collaborative efforts encompass diverse areas such as Risk Management, Finance, Human Resources, Chief Administrative Office, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking, and Wealth Management. We are also pioneering the development of digital tools and platforms that enhance collaboration throughout the organization.

As part of our Finance IT Data Management team, you will take on a key role in overseeing Test Implementation and Test Automation on our advanced Big Data Platform. This position requires working with state-of-the-art technologies and programming languages, including Cloudera, Spark, Scala, Unix, SQL, and Python, while utilizing DevOps Containerization applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the overall quality engineering strategy, responsible for developing and executing functional testing as well as automation implementations for the ecosystem/program.
  • Establish and lead strategic and tactical quality engineering initiatives, overseeing the implementation of the QE Automation Program and overall QE Automation processes and standards.
  • Build and manage a high-performing, diverse team that capitalizes on individual strengths, ensuring adequate training and resources to meet objectives.
  • Maximize automation for all project functional testing deliverables within the portfolio.
  • Develop and adhere to defined processes and tools, ensuring alignment with the overall quality engineering strategy and framework.
  • Provide accurate and detailed quality status updates to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for the success of assigned programs concerning testing automation, overseeing teams managing Test Implementations, Test Environments, and Test Data Management.
  • Collaborate with Application Development Directors to integrate quality engineering principles within the DevOps framework/pipeline.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • A degree in Computer Science or a related field with over 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proficiency in various test automation tools (e.g., Robot Framework, Selenium, Jenkins).
  • Experience in script development using scripting languages, particularly in Unix (Shell Scripting), Python (Pandas, Pycharm), and SQL, Tableau.
  • Practical experience with Big Data testing (HDFS, Hive, CDP), covering Data Ingestion, Enrichment, Aggregation, Lineage, Quality, Transformation, and Consumption using automated tools.
  • Strong communication skills coupled with a vision for Test Automation and leadership capabilities for innovation.

Desirable:

  • Experience in reviewing artifacts, including code reviews (application and test automation scripts).
  • Familiarity with SDLC, QE, and DevOps tools (e.g., JIRA, GitHub, Jenkins, UrbanCodeDeploy, qTest).
  • Hands-on knowledge of Data masking technologies.
  • Experience with QA implementations using Agile methodologies.
