As a key member of the Global Functions Technology (GFT) team within the Technology and Operations division at RBC, you will be integral to a group that provides IT solutions aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and driving transformation across the organization. Our collaborative initiatives cover a wide range of sectors, including Risk Management, Finance, Human Resources, Chief Administrative Office, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking, and Wealth Management. As part of our Finance IT Data Management team, you will take on a pivotal role in managing Test Implementation and Test Automation on our state-of-the-art Big Data Platform. This position entails working with cutting-edge technologies and programming languages, including Cloudera, Spark, Scala, Unix, SQL, and Python, while utilizing DevOps Containerization applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive quality engineering strategy, ensuring the implementation of functional testing and build automation for the ecosystem/program.
  • Lead and promote strategic and tactical quality engineering initiatives, overseeing the rollout of the QE Automation Program and maintaining overall QE Automation processes and standards.
  • Build and manage a high-performing, diverse team that capitalizes on individual strengths and capabilities, ensuring access to necessary training and tools to meet objectives.
  • Maximize automation across all project functional testing deliverables within the portfolio.
  • Follow and refine established processes and tools, ensuring alignment with the overarching quality engineering strategy and framework.
  • Provide accurate and detailed quality status updates to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for the success of assigned programs concerning testing automation, overseeing Test Implementations, Test Environments, and Test Data Management.
  • Collaborate with Application Development Directors to embed a quality engineering mindset within the DevOps framework/pipeline.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proficiency in various test automation tools (e.g., Robot Framework, Selenium, Jenkins).
  • Experience in script development using scripting languages, primarily in Unix (Shell Scripting), Python (Pandas, Pycharm), and SQL, Tableau.
  • Practical experience with Big Data testing (HDFS, Hive, CDP), including Data Ingestion, Enrichment, Aggregation, Lineage, Quality, Transformation, and Consumption using automated tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, coupled with a vision for Test Automation and strong leadership capabilities for fostering innovation.

Desirable:

  • Experience in reviewing artifacts, including code reviews (application and test automation scripts).
  • Familiarity with SDLC, QE, and DevOps tools (e.g., JIRA, GitHub, Jenkins, UrbanCodeDeploy, qTest).
  • Hands-on knowledge of data masking technologies.
  • Experience with QA implementations using Agile methodologies.
