Position Overview

Join our team at StockYard Meat Products as a dedicated Butcher. In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation and sale of high-quality meat products.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 month and up to 7 months of relevant experience is preferred.
Work Environment

The work environment may include:

  • Exposure to various odours
  • Cold or refrigerated settings
Work Setting

This position is based in:

  • Butcher shops
  • Wholesale meat distributors
Key Responsibilities

Your primary tasks will include:

  • Cleaning meats in preparation for processing or cutting
  • Cutting carcasses, sides, and quarters
  • Trimming and preparing standard cuts of meat
  • Wrapping and packaging prepared meats
  • Removing bones from meat
  • Weighing meats for sale
  • Cutting poultry into parts
  • Pricing meat products
  • Cleaning and preparing fish and shellfish
  • Assisting customers with meat purchases
  • Cutting fish into steaks and fillets
  • Supervising other butchers and meat cutters
  • Grinding meats
  • Training new meat cutters
  • Creating special sausages
  • Slicing cooked meats
  • Preparing special displays of meats, poultry, and fish products
  • Shaping, lacing, and tying roasts and other meats
  • Handling special orders from customers
Physical Demands

  • A combination of sitting, standing, and walking
  • Ability to stand for extended periods

  • Physical stamina for demanding tasks
  • Capability to handle heavy loads
  • Good hand-eye coordination

Employment Details
