Role Overview
Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, the Cheese Manufacturing Specialist will play a pivotal role in providing expert guidance and technical assistance in process and product innovation, formulation enhancement, operational implementation, cost efficiency projects, yield maximization, and ongoing improvement assessments.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a robust blend of initiative, specialized expertise, and a desire for continuous learning. This position is perfect for individuals eager to expand their knowledge and advance their careers within DPC Saputo.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a technical authority in cheese production for various internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide technical assistance in cheese production (identify and assess product or production challenges). Formulate and execute action plans to address these issues.
- Enhance cheese products, processes, and formulations.
- Assess and adopt new industrial technologies and cheese production methodologies.
- Contribute to the establishment of plant financial objectives and cost-saving initiatives.
- Innovate new cheese products.
- Ensure effective communication of results to diverse audiences (operations, quality assurance, marketing, sales, etc.).
- Transfer acquired knowledge to cheese makers for the effective implementation and maintenance of cheese formulations and production processes.
- For qualifying projects, ensure the completion of necessary documentation for the effective operation of the SR&ED program (research tax credit).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in food technology, food engineering, or equivalent education.
- Advanced degree (M.Sc or Ph.D), particularly in the dairy sector, is advantageous.
- A minimum of 3+ years of experience in a dairy processing environment, ideally in cheese production.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and driven individual with a strong intellectual curiosity.
- Excellent communicator (both verbal and written), capable of influencing others.
- Strong team collaborator.
- Analytical and innovative problem-solving abilities.
- Proven capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Bilingual proficiency (French and English) in both spoken and written forms is essential in Quebec, as teams and clients are spread across Canada. French is a plus for other provinces.
- Willingness to travel across Canada (approximately 20% of the time).
