Director, Commercial Credit Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Commercial Credit to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Commercial Credit department, you will be responsible for leading a team of adjudicators and contributing to the quality and profitable growth of our Commercial Credit portfolio.
Key Responsibilities- Portfolio Management: Ensure credit applications are adjudicated promptly and within the Bank's risk selection parameters. Maintain assigned portfolio quality by overseeing trends in risk rating migration and credit conditions, overdue reporting, and annual reviews.
- Team Leadership: Supervise team members and be responsible for the overall efficiency of the team. Provide coaching, direction, and guidance on credit and other matters when required.
- Business Partnerships: Manage partnerships and liaise with business partners in Commercial Banking and other business lines to maintain open communication and ensure good service levels are achieved.
- Training and Development: Contribute to the development of the Bank's commercial human resources by identifying training needs and ensuring that individual coaching and group coaching is provided to Commercial Banking and Global Risk Management Team members.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and contribute to driving continuous improvement at the Bank by identifying policy and process fixes and enhancements.
- Commercial Banking Expertise: Thorough understanding of Commercial Banking and the Bank's credit policies and procedures.
- Financial Analysis and Risk Assessment: Expert understanding of Bank lending policies and procedures, financial analysis, risk assessment techniques, credit structuring, collateral and security documentation and registration, collection, related legislation, and accounting practices.
- Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership skills as demonstrated by the management of a team of adjudicators. Excellent communication skills (written and oral) to converse effectively with line and corporate personnel.
- Decision-Making and Collaboration: Ability to make decisions, frequently in the face of uncertainty, and clearly communicate rationale for decisions. Resourcefulness, resiliency, tenacity, and a high degree of collaboration are desirable attributes.
- Language Skills: Bilingual (French/English) verbal and written is required for the role.
