About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Director, Commercial Credit. As a key member of our Commercial Credit team, you will be responsible for contributing to the quality of our Commercial Credit portfolio in an assigned geographic area, while also driving profitable growth and ensuring efficient maintenance of the portfolio at an acceptable level of risk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Management: Ensure credit applications are adjudicated promptly, within our risk selection parameters, and maintain assigned portfolio quality by overseeing the portfolio, monitoring trends in risk rating migration and credit conditions, overdue reporting, and annual reviews.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise team members and be responsible for the overall efficiency of the team, reflected in minimal turnaround times, staffing levels, and providing direct reports with coaching, direction, and guidance on credit and other matters when required.
  • Business Partnerships: Manage partnerships and liaise with business partners in Commercial Banking and other business lines to maintain open communication, ensuring good service levels are achieved and maintained to internal customers. Negotiate with Commercial Banking partners to ensure credit terms and conditions are appropriate and sound risk decisions are achieved.
  • Training and Development: Contribute to the development of our commercial human resources by identifying training needs and ensuring that individual coaching and group coaching is provided to Commercial Banking and Global Risk Management team members.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and contribute to driving continuous improvement at the Bank by identifying policy and process fixes and enhancements, driving the development, acceptance, and execution of efficient and effective solutions, and partnering with other Directors to ensure consistency of practices and interpretation of policies and practices.

Requirements:

  • Commercial Banking Expertise: Thorough understanding of Commercial Banking and the Bank's credit policies and procedures.
  • Financial Analysis and Risk Assessment: Expert understanding of Bank lending policies and procedures, financial analysis, risk assessment techniques, credit structuring, collateral and security documentation and registration, collection, related legislation, and accounting practices.
  • Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership skills as demonstrated by the management of a team of adjudicators, and excellent communication skills (written and oral) to converse effectively with line and corporate personnel.
  • Decision-Making and Collaboration: Ability to make decisions, frequently in the face of uncertainty, and clearly communicate rationale for decisions, as well as resourcefulness, resiliency, tenacity, and a high degree of collaboration.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual (French/English) verbal and written is required for the role.
