Role Overview

The selected candidate will play a vital role in the development and execution of projects for new hydro power generation units and the refurbishment of existing facilities. As a key member of the balance of plant engineering team, focusing on unit instrumentation, electrical systems, and auxiliary systems, the responsibilities will include:

  • Creating engineering documentation such as electrical schematics, instrument specifications, cable lists, cable specifications, P&ID diagrams, bills of materials, and 3D models for equipment layout and cable routing;
  • Evaluating technical specifications, data sheets, codes, standards, and other relevant documents to ensure compliance with applicable regulations;
  • Collaborating with various engineering teams, suppliers, and clients for the integration of electrical systems with relevant equipment;
  • Engaging with subcontractors to provide necessary specifications and instructions for component and equipment procurement;
  • Actively participating in factory testing and occasional supplier inspections as required;
  • Working alongside different teams to develop installation procedures and operation & maintenance documentation;
  • Assisting in the coordination and providing necessary support for the on-site installation of electrical systems and equipment;
  • Offering technical assistance to the sales team in preparing estimates, technical documents, and drawings for bids;
  • Contributing to initiatives aimed at enhancing project execution efficiency and reducing costs.

  • AEC, DEC, or equivalent training or experience;
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical;
  • Experience in the hydroelectric sector (preferred);
  • Knowledge of instrumentation: selection, configuration, testing (preferred);
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling (preferred);
  • Experience in control systems design (preferred);
  • Bilingual: fluent in spoken and written French and English (required);
  • Strong interpersonal skills, collaboration, and teamwork (required);
  • Ability to self-learn software applications (required);
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, Project, etc.);
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and perform fieldwork on-site.
